I hope they didn't make you jump through too many hoops. ;)

I loved the recap on Marc English's presentation especially. After a hectic 2 years personally and professionally I decided to rebalance some things. I decided to change my location and work remotely for a month in a vacation setting. It's been great to have a change of pace.

I willingly spent my 20's focused on pleasing clients no matter what it cost me... Weekends, family visits, whatever. I don't regret any of it. It made me a better designer; but it also made me realize how important work/life balance
is.

Thanks everyone!

I hope you all got to see what I was talking about first hand at last night's AIGA event with Michael Osborne. It was the exact presentation I saw in June and I was just invigorated all over again.

One of my favorite take-aways from our conversation at the bar after last night's event is from when I asked Michael if he ever just shit out design because of time. He responded "Life's too short — we only get to do this once."

Love him.

Thanks for a great recap, Katie! I remember following your tweets while you were there and found myself looking forward to the updates. I was lucky enough to get work to pay for my trip to the HOW Conference when it was in Atlanta 3 years ago. It was my first and only time but you've inspired me to start working on my current employer now for next year. I so want to go back.

Great insights, thanks for sharing your journey with us! I'm planning on going next year since they backed it up to the Creative Freelancer Conference.

Katie, I'm so jealous you go to go to HOW and even more upset I couldn't be there with you. But after reading this, I kinda feel like I was. Thanks for bringing us along. :o)
